What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?
Upgrade items are a special type of item that can make certain Pokemon evolve. They can be obtained by spinning Pokestop discs, and sometimes as rewards for events related to evolution.
They can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets and gathering tools in order to increase effects or stats. Some upgrades also have the appearance of a certain cosmetic when they are used.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons or trinkets to give an added bonus or effect while the equipment is being utilized. They can be purchased from vendors, looted, earned as rewards, crafted or dropped. Upgrade components are required to be higher than the item that they are added to. They also require that the item be equipped with an upgrade slot. Upgrade components can be replaced by other upgrade components, with the exception for inscriptions and glyphs that can only be removed or added freely.
Gems, infusions and enrichments are the most common upgrade components. Gems can be added to any type of equipment and provide an inferior benefit than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are special upgrade components that can be added to ascended gear that is not an ampulet and other legendary equipment. They can be recovered from the equipment they're within by using an Upgrade Extraction Device, or by salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
